Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery

Coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG)

CABG is the most common type of open-heart surgery and is performed by doctors called cardiothoracic surgeons.

Both CABG and angioplasty are treatment options in the case of severe blockages in the large coronary arteries, especially if the heart has already grown weak.

CABG may also be an option if there are blockages in the heart that cannot be treated with angioplasty. In this situation, CABG may work better than other types of treatment.
